Trick or treat, give you something good to eat! What are some of the best places to go to for Halloween fun trick-or-treating in NJ that you have to check out? Based off where our friends and some of their staff have taken their children over the past few years, here’s what we recommend.

Thompson Park Day in Middletown
(Monmouth County)

The fun starts at 11 am on Sunday, October 14. Bring your kids and your pets! There will be pumpkin painting, wagon and inflatable rides, pie eating contests, an apple cider demo, fall festival games, entertainment, Strutt Your Mutt Doggie Costume Contest, scarecrow contest, and much more.

*We have not been to this particular event but have been to Thompson Park many times and its a great place for families human and fur!

Hawl-O-WeenDog Festival and Pooch Parade in Bradley Beach
(Monmouth County)

This event was such a hit last year with over 100 families in attendance that they brought it back. It will be held on Saturday, October 20 (rain date: Sunday October 21) at 12 pm at Riley Park (off Main Street). If it’s anything like last year, there will be plenty of vendors, great music, a doggy talent show, bobbing for tennis balls, and prizes. Pictured, our marketing dog Zoey had a great time at last year’s event dressed as a 50s girl. While she did not win a prize, it was still her favorite New Jersey Halloween event and this girl sure has some social life!

The Fall Festival and Pooch Parade in Long Branch
(Monmouth County)

Kicking off at 11 am on Saturday, October 27 in Pier Village, a popular place in Central, NJ, this event is filled with fun for the whole family. The day features a parade at 12 pm (with lining up beginning at 11:30 am) for your furry friends followed by a kids costume parade beginning at 2 pm. There will also be: arts and crafts, touch a truck, bouncy rides, craft vendors, and a DJ. Before you leave, pick up some treats from The Shops of Pier Village and the Greater Long Branch Chamber of Commerce trailer.

Ragamuffin Halloween Parade in Hoboken
(Hudson County)

On Wednesday, October 31 at 2:30 pm the march line up will begin at Washington Street between 13th and 14th streets. Enjoy live music, Halloween floats galore, a costume contest, and so much more. If you’re local to north Jersey, check it out!

The Annual Halloween Parade in Toms River (Ocean County)

If it has been around as long as this event, you know it has to be something special. The Toms River Halloween Parade is celebrating its 80th year on Wednesday, October 31 (in the event of poor weather, the reschedule date is Thursday, November 1). This year the parade will be organized by Toms River Volunteer Company No. 1. The parade will form beginning at 7 pm at the Toms River Shopping Centre on the corner of Highland Parkway and Rt. 166 (Main St.) and travel down Main Street turning left onto Washington Street, ending at the corner of Washington Street and Hooper Ave. All Spectators need are advised to stay south of Highland Parkway.

Candy candy in the bag
It’s that time of year
Funny clown witchy hag
Another house is near

Popcorn balls and tootsie rolls
A handful is the best
Taken from the biggest bowls
At homes that pass the test

Ding dong ring the bell
Trick or treat is said
And if it does not go so well
Then mark the first word said

Trees draped in toilet paper
Fecal bags on fire
Dressed like an undertaker
The trick was their desire

Midnight comes all bags are full
Time to count the bounty
The night is done we’ve played our role
All throughout the county

Enjoy this yearly fun-filled night
Feast upon it’s riches
From the first and final bite
Of Hugs and Hershey Kisses

We hope you have a wonderful Halloween!
