UAN login: Steps in 2023
Note: The process of UAN login is for people who already know their universal account number.
Step 1: Visit the official EPFO website.
Step 2: Enter the UAN number, password and captcha. Click the Sign In button on the UAN member portal.
Step 3: On the home page, you can see your UAN number, date of birth, Aadhaar number, bank account number(s), PAN number, email ID, and other details.
Step 4: On the Home page:

Registration for UAN login
For UAN login, UAN must be registered and activated on the official portal. Here is how to register for your UAN:
Step 1: On the EPFO homepage, hit the ‘For Employees’ option under ‘Services’.
Step 2: Under the ‘Services’ section, click on ‘Member UAN/Online Services’.
Step 3: On the next page, click on the ‘Activate UAN’ option under ‘Important Links’.
Step 4: On the next page, fill in your UAN number or your member ID, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, mobile number, and enter the captcha. Also, check the box to give consent to provide your Aadhaar Number, before hitting on ‘Get authorization PIN’.
Step 5: An OTP will be sent to your mobile number. Use this OTP and hit the ‘Validate OTP and Activate UAN’ option. On UAN activation, EPFO will send you an SMS on your mobile to access your PF account.
How can the employer generate UAN for newly joined employees?
Employers can log into to EPF employer portal using the establishment ID and password and follow the below given steps:
Step 1: Click on the Register Individual option. Check the previous employment as NO.
Step 2: Go to the Member section
Step 3: Enter the employee’s details such as PAN, Aadhaar, bank details, etc.
Step 4: Approve all details in the Approval section.
Step 5: A new UAN is generated by the EPFO. The employer can link the PF account of the employee with his UAN.
How to know your UAN?
Don’t know your UAN? Let us see how to find out your UAN or universal account number.
Step 1: Visit the UAN portal.
Step 2: Under the ‘Important Links’ option on the right side of the page, click on ‘Know your UAN’.
Step 3: Provide your mobile number and captcha for verification. Once you fill in these details, click on the ‘Request OTP’ button.
Step 4: You will receive a 6-digit OTP on your mobile number through SMS. Enter this OTP and click on the ‘Validate OTP’ option.
Step 5: Once your OTP validation is successful, click ‘OK’ to proceed.
Step 6: Enter your name, date of birth, Aadhaar number, along with a captcha. Enter the details and click the ‘Show UAN’ button.
Note that in place of Aadhaar, you can also use your PAN or member ID to know your UAN.
Step 7: Your universal account number will now be visible on the screen.
How to check UAN on your salary slip?
Alternatively, you can check your salary slip to find out your UAN. Among many other details about your and your employer, your salary slip will have your UAN number, mentioned as PF UAN.
What to know UAN login password?
Step 1: Visit the UAN portal.
Step 2: On the home page, click on the ‘Forgot Password‘ option.
Step 3: The next page will ask you to enter your UAN and the Captcha shown on the page. After filling these, click on Submit.
Step 4: On the next page, you will be asked to give your name, date of birth and gender. Once you fill this information, click on Verify.
Step 5: You will now have to verify yourself. To do that, provide your Aadhaar number and enter the Captcha. Also, click on the undertaking to allow verification.
Step 6: Your the Aadhaar number is verified. You will be asked to enter your mobile number to receive OTP.
Also tick on the following consent: “I hereby consent to provide my Aadhaar Number, Biometric and/or One Time Pin (OTP) data for Aadhaar based authentication for the purpose of establishing my identity”
Step 7: You will receive an OPT on your mobile number. Enter this OTP and the Captcha in the required field. Now, click on Verify.
Step 8: You will now be asked to set a new password. Make sure your password has at least 8 characters, with at least one upper case letter, one special character and one number. Confirm it, too.
Step 9: You UAN login password has been changed successfully.
Change mobile number at UAN portal
Step 1: Go to the official website of the EPFO and from the ‘Our Services’ tab, click on ‘For Employees’.
Step 2: On the page that opens, click on the ‘Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP)’ link that is present under the ‘Services’ menu.
Step 3: Now, input your UAN, password and captcha to sign in.
Step 4: Now, go to the ‘Manage’ tab, and click on the ‘Contact Details’ option.
Step 5: The page that now opens will give you the option to change your mobile number or email ID. Select the option to change the mobile number option.
Step 6: Once you check the change mobile number option, additional boxes will open asking you to input your new mobile number twice. After doing that, click on the ‘Get Authorization Pin’ button.
Step 7: Once you receive the OTP on your new mobile number, input it and click on ‘Submit’. This marks the completion of your mobile number change update on the EPFO portal.

How to link UAN with PAN?
Step 1: Go to the EPFO member portal home page. Use your UAN and password to log in.
Step 2: From the main menu, click on the ‘Manage’ option.
Step 3: Under the Manage option you will find the by ‘KYC’ option. Click on it.
Step 4: You will find a list of documents to be updated under the ‘Document type’ option.
Step 5: Click on PAN, and enter you PAN number and name.
Step 6: Click on ‘Save’.
Step 7: Once the income tax department verifies the details, your UAN will be linked with PAN.
How to correct PAN verification failure on UAN portal?
In case there is no mismatch in your details on either portal, here is how to address the PAN-UAN verification failure:
Step1: Go to the official page of EPFiGMS.
Step 2: On the top left side of the page, select the option ‘Register Grievance’.
Step 3: On the top right side of the page, you have the option to change your language from English to Hindi and vice versa.
Step 4: Once you click on ‘Register Grievance’ option, the new page that now opens will ask you to input your status: PF member, EPS pensioner, Employer or ‘Others’. Select status as PF member.
Step 5: You will be asked to check Yes or No about your claim ID. Check No.
Step 6: Once you check No, you will be asked to input your UAN and security code. Click on ‘Get Details’ option after that.
Step 7: At this point, your name, email ID and mobile number will appear on the screen. Click on the ‘Get OTP’ option to procced.
Step 8: Once you receive that on your registered mobile, input the OTP.
Step 9: You will now be asked to give your personal details like gender, address, etc.
Step 10: Under section called ‘Grievance Details’ will ask you to select PF number to lodge grievance.
Step 11: A new box will now open asking you to input what the grievance is related to (PF office, Employer, EDLI or pre-pension).
- Choose PF office against grievance related to option.
- Choose KYC Related Issues of Subscriber Pertaining PF Office option against category.
- Provide Grievance description.
- You can attach the PAN verification failure messages and proof of correct details as documentary proof.
Step 12: Click on Add and then Submit.
Step 13: You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number about the complaint. An email to your registered ID will also be sent confirming the same. The PAN verification failure may be corrected within 48 hours.
How to transfer money from one PF account to another with UAN login?
Step 1: Visit the EPFO unified portal. Log in using your UAN, password and captcha code.
Step 2: After you log in, under the Online Services tab, click on One Member-One EPF Account (Transfer Request) option.
Step 3: A new page will open, showing all your personal details. The page will also show you the details of the account where your PF money will be transferred.
Step 4: Select between your previous and current employer for DSC authorised signatory.
Step 5: An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification. Enter that OPT in the requested field and click on Submit.
Step 6: Fill up Form 13 online now to proceed with PF transfer request.
Step 7: After filling the form online, take a printout, sign it and submit it with your employer within 10 days. After verification, your PF money will be transferred in your new account.
How to link UAN with Aadhaar?
Under Section 142 of the Code on Security, 2020, the electronic challan-cum return facility is allowed to be filed only by those EPF subscribers whose Aadhaar number is seeded with their UAN. This rule has been in effect since June 1, 2021.
Step 1: To link your Aadhaar number with UAN, visit https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
Step 2: Use your UAN and password to log in.
Step 3: On the Member Homepage, select ‘KYC’ option under the ‘Manage’ tab.
Step 4: Select the ‘Aadhaar’ option to add a KYC document.
Step 5: Input your Aadhaar number in the requested field and click on the Save option.
Step 6: The status of Aaadhar will change from not approved to ‘Pending’, after you save these changes.
Your UAN will be linked with your Aadhaar only after your employer and the EPFO approve these changes.
How to know if Aadhaar is linked with UAN?
Step 1: To know if your Aadhaar number is linked to your PF account, visit https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
Step 2: Use your UAN and password to log in.
Step 3: On the Member Homepage, select ‘KYC’ option under the ‘Manage’ tab.
Step 4: If your Aadhaar number is displayed on the screen under the verified documents page, your UAN is linked with Aadhaar. If not, you will have to link your UAN with Aadhaar.

How to get UAN number on mobile?
Members who are registered on the Member Portal receive monthly messages, which include their UAN, along with monthly contribution and total balance in their PF account. This message could be sent by the following IDs:
- VM-EPFOHO
- VK-EPFOHO
- BP-EPFOHO
- BV-EPFOHO
The acronyms carry the names of your SIM company (first 2 letters) followed by the short form for Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation Home.
How to get UAN information through missed call?
PF members registered on the UAN portal may get their details by giving a missed call to the following number:
011-22901406
Note that they have to use their registered mobile to give the missed call on the above-mentioned number. The call automatically gets disconnected after two rings. You do not have to pay any charge for this facility.
If the UAN of the member is seeded with either your bank account or your Aadhaar or your PAN, you will get details of last contribution and PF balance.

UAN login: Latest update
EPFO higher pension: Over 8,000 members apply as on March 4, 2023
The EPFO said over 8,000 subscribers have applied online for the higher pension option as on March 4, 2023. EPFO subscribers have time till May 3, 2023, to opt for higher pension. On February 27, 2023, the pension fund body extended the deadline to opt for the option from March 3 to May 6 this year. The online joint (employee and employer) option form with the necessary documents has been hosted by the EPFO in the unified portal for contributing on higher salary to the EPS-95, it said.
EPFO subscribers can opt for higher pension
The EPFO has allowed members to opt for higher pension under the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS). This means members can go beyond the pensionable salary capped at Rs 15,000 a month on which employers deduct 8.33% of the actual basic salary towards the EPS. EPFO will soon issue a detailed circular on the method of deposit, computation of pension, etc.
PF interest not credited for 2021-22
EPFO’s trustees have raised concerns over non-credit of interest on employees’ provident fund for 2021-22 despite its ratification in June 2022. The Employees Provident Organisation’s Central Board of Trustees in March 2022 approved an 8.1% interest on PF for financial year 2021-22. This was the lowest rate in over 4 decades.
SC quashes Rs 15,000-salary limit under EPS
November 4, 2022: The Supreme Court on November 4, 2022, upheld the validity of the Employees Pension (Amendment) Scheme, 2014. It, however, quashed the threshold limit of Rs 15,000 monthly salary for joining the pension fund. The 2014 amendment had capped the maximum pensionable salary (basic pay plus dearness allowance) at Rs 15,000 per month. Prior to the amendment, the maximum pensionable salary was capped at Rs 6,500 a month. The top court also held as invalid the condition in the 2014 scheme that required employees to make a further contribution at 1.16% on salary exceeding Rs 15,000. According to a circular issued by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation on December 29, 2022, the central government has directed it to implement the directives of the Supreme Court.
